Bible Story: Barnabas Helped Acts 4:36-37; 9:26-28; 11:19-30; 13:1-3; 14
Life Point: People show love to God by doing His work.
Weekly Verse: Love God. Mark 12:30
Materials: Teaching Picture 1, construction paper folded into a card, washable markers, stickers
- Give each preschooler a card and encourage him to design a card to give to a friend.
- Show the Teaching Picture and talk about the Bible story as preschoolers make their cards. Comment that Barnabas showed love to God by helping others, which is part of God’s work.
- Tell the children that they can show love to people by giving their cards to people who are sick.
3–Pre-K— Haul Food

Materials: shoeboxes, play food and food containers, marker. blocks
- Use a marker to draw wheels on the sides of the shoeboxes. These will be the trucks used to haul food.
- Inform the children that the boxes are large trucks that can be used to haul food. Suggest they could use the blocks to build places to take the food.
- Talk about the Bible story as children play. Remind kids that Barnabas showed that he loved God by the way he helped others. Tell the children they can help others and show love to God.
Kindergarten— Make a Giant Golf Ball Painting

Weekly Verse: Love God with all your heart. Mark 12:30
Materials: 8-by-10-inch (or larger) painting canvas, cardboard pieces, tape, paint in bowls, spoons, golf balls
- Before the session, tape cardboard pieces around the outside of the canvas. The edges should be even with the bottom of the canvas but stick up about 2 inches on top. Put each color of paint in a bowl with a spoon and a golf ball.
- Encourage three or more kids to work together. One can spoon a golf ball with paint onto the canvas, then kids work together to move the canvas so the ball rolls around. Continue with different colors of paint. More groups can add to the painting.
- Tell the Bible story as the kids work. Thank the kids for working together. Comment that kids can show love for God by doing His work; sometimes people work together to do God’s work.
