Parents, today your child learned about Zechariah. An angel informed Zechariah of John’s birth, and something interesting happened to Zechariah. God had a plan for Zechariah. God wants people to follow His plans, not their own.
We are asked to read Luke 9:20 in our Daily Bible Reading, found on our One Conversation™ page. What an excellent question from Jesus to us, though he is talking to Peter. Take time to reflect on it with your children. Ask them who they say that Jesus is.
Take it Further: Check out the “Zechariah” section of the Worship for Life: Kids Family App. There are activities, songs, and videos that are fun for everyone to help dive further into this week’s lesson, and it’s free to download.
Our Bible story about Zechariah reminds us that God deserves respect, obedience, and honor. Dr. Calvin Wittman does a great job of explaining Christian obedience in his sermon “Jesus Wants Loving Obedience.” Find it here: http://www.lifeway.com/Article/sermon-what-jesus-wants-loving-obedience-matthew-7
Have you ever had to follow an instruction before you knew what the outcome was going to be? Our Daily Bible Reading today, Acts 9:6, found on our One Conversation™ page, shows us just that. What a reminder to obey first.
The Weekly Bible Verse to reinforce the story of Zechariah is Psalm 119:44. Again we see the word obey which is what we’ve been focused on all week. This Is a great verse to use daily in your home as a reminder of what we are called to do.
Our current Life Verse is Acts 16:31. Look for ways as a family to memorize this verse together. Print out the verse and put it on your front door. Have someone say it out loud every time you pass through.
