Introductory Activity – Weekly Verse Guess
Materials: poster and marker, dry erase board or chalk board
Create a poster with the Weekly Verse: 1 Corinthians 10:31. Display the poster at the front of the room. Write the first letter of each word in the verse on a chalkboard or dry erase board, drawing a short blank after each letter. Show the verse poster and invite kids to read the it aloud once or twice. Then hide the poster and invite kids to take turns saying the verse from memory, using the first letters as prompts.
Live It Out
Game – Beanbag Tic-Tac-Toe
Materials: masking tape, ten small beanbags in different colors
Create two teams of kids and create a tic-tac-toe board on the floor using masking tape. Ask the teams review questions from today’s story, alternating between teams. When someone answers a question correctly, he gets to throw a beanbag onto the board. Each team tries to be the first to get a line of three completed. If time allows, you could repeat this game using the review questions from previous stories in the unit. After playing the game, remind kids that knowing the Bible helps us to know and respect God more!
Craft – Whatever you Eat
Materials: paper plates, scissors, pink tissue paper, green tissue paper, black markers, liquid glue
Give kids paper plates, pink, and green tissue paper, and scissors. Kids should cut the paper plates in half then cut or tear small pieces of pink and green tissue paper. First, glue the pink tissue paper to the center of the plate. Then, glue the green tissue paper pieces to the outside of the plate to resemble a watermelon. Kids can then draw black dots on the pink part to resemble the seeds. On the back of the paper plate, kids can write the words of 1 Corinthians 10:31. Remind kids this verse tells us how to respect God.
Grades 4-6
Introductory Activity – Unscramble the verse
Materials: dry erase board and markers or chalkboard and chalk
Write the words of the Weekly Verse on the dry erase board with the letters scrambled in each word. Encourage kids to work together to try and unscramble the verse. After they finish, tell them they will learn of another hidden message written on a wall! For added challenge, mix up the order of the words

Game –Hoop Toss
Materials: multiple hoops (or smaller rings, if desired), small beanbags in different colors (one color for each team), index cards, marker, masking tape
Place the hoops on the floor. Print point values on index cards, one per hoop, and tape each card to the floor inside the hoop. Tape a line on the floor from which the kids can throw. Form two or more teams. Give each team the same number of bean bags. Ask the teams review questions, alternating between teams. When someone answers a question correctly, she can stand at the start line and throw the beanbag into a hoop. If her beanbag lands in a hoop, her team is awarded the number of points you assigned to that hoop. After playing the game, remind kids that knowing the Bible helps us to know and respect God more!
Craft – Make a Bible Verse Hanger
Materials: hangers, one per child; wooden clothes pins; fine-point permanent markers, poster board or dry erase board, marker
Write the words and reference of the Weekly Verse on the board. Encourage kids to write each word on a clothespin, then clip the clothespins out of order to a plastic hanger. Invite kids to put the verse back in order without looking at the board. Tell them they can take their verse hangers home and practice until the verse is memorized! Remind them that God expects people to respect Him. This verse tells helps know how to respect God.
