NOTE: This particular visual is used in each of the seven sessions of the study “The Church God Desires.” Here’s how each of the Leader Guides references this pack item in the first session:
From the Daily Discipleship Guide (p. 119):
Display Pack Item #3, the “Worldly Temptations” poster. Invite a group member to read aloud 1 John 2:15-17. As a group, consider some temptations Jesus faced and how He responded to them. Then, discuss temptations we face today and record these on the poster under the appropriate heading. Highlight that as Christians, we can recognize these worldly temptations and overcome them.
From the Adult Leader Guide (p. 32) [p. 38 in KJV Adult]:
Display Pack Item 3, “Worldly Temptations” poster, to give group members an opportunity to apply lessons from this passage. Invite group members to collaborate to fill in the poster.
From the Young Adult Leader Guide (p. 34):
From the Senior Adult Leader Guide (p. 34 ):
Display Item 3: Worldly Temptation poster. Under each heading have group members list examples of temptations/sins for each one.
From the Advanced Bible Study Teacher Guide (p. 13):
Use the paragraph that begins “Over time …” (p. 30 in Advanced Bible Study) and the two paragraphs that follow to explain “the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride in one’s possessions.” Refer to Pack Item 3: Worldly Temptations for discussion. Ask: How have you experienced the pull of the world through these temptations?
Each Leader Pack includes a code to receive all the files digitally: PDFs and customizable versions of the Leader Guide. The digital files also include a promotional video, a “teaser” to pique interest in the study. Share this will your group members or through social media as a way to invite participation in the study.
